Looking for ideas here...

I've have a BX1860 for 3 years now and my only complaint is the volumetric capacity of the FEL. The sizing of the FEL is such that I can pick up and safely move a full load of 3/4" gravel, no problem (of course the little BX has to be appropriately ballasted at the rear...).

However, I am less often moving loose stone, and much more often moving fairly dry mulch and yard debris (sticks, leaves, etc). And for this reason, I would like some ideas on a bigger bucket for moving loose material such as mulch. Now, you are thinking, "what a PITA, changing the bucket to move one sort of material...". But, if you have ever moved 20 cubic yards of mulch with a BX (0.20 cubic yard capacity bucket) you would know what the problem is here.

Products: LA203 Kubota Canada Ltd.
Standard
Capacity - struck 4.2 cu. ft. (0.120 mウ)
Capacity - heaped 4.9 cu. ft. (0.140 mウ)

I know that BXpanded makes a "bucket extender" but are there other options I should be looking at? I really need a fairly lightweight, 60" wide, deep, "loose material handling" bucket suitable for a few hundred pounds of mulch. I promise not to pick up 500 pounds of 3/4" stone with it.

What say you folks?

Bruce,
Thanks for the link. That project seems set up for light brush. I'm thinking I need something smaller than that, and bigger than the OEM FEL.

Wrooster,
I built this thing out of some scrap plywood to expand the capacity of the bucket on my B3030. It's great for light duty stuff, like leaves and firewood.

Well- what do you want it made with ? steel or wood? With wood - you can built it and see if it works for you. If it doesnt, you always can hack it and rebuild it as needed. With steel - you are limited to with what cost and what you have on hand.
