BX1500 Question

/ BX1500 Question #4
The 54" deck is great. No power issues whatsoever. The only time it's ever lugged down was when I cut my neighbor's 14" tall, very thick, wet grass - obviously more than it was intended for. Even then, all I had to do was slow down a bit. The 54" deck (at least when I bought mine) has a steel chute deflector and pulley covers. They were plastic on the 48" model. I perceive steel to be better quality.

/ BX1500 Question #5
I have had my bx 1500 for 3 years and have never had the 54" deck bog down. I also use it in the fall to help with leaf removal, since I don't have a sweeper, etc. I just start next to the trees with the deck up and then make circles, until I have the leaves in a pile, it mulches/blows the leaves into a pile and as the leaves pile up the mower keeps cutting /blowing them with no bogging down.I then load up the leaves in a cart and the loader and haul them away into the fields and dump/spread them out. Sure beats raking them all. I only use a rake to pick up the leaves to put them in the cart and loader bucket.

How fast do you go?? Mine seems to run fine, but the 54 deck will bog it in average to thick grass unless I mow in low range, or significantly back off in hi range. Even in low range it will not mow uphill at full pedal speed.

I used to have a 1500 and it performed well. Are you running full throttle??? I can see bogging on a serious hill but not on a normal lawn, especially in low range where the thing is a tank.

Mine will not cut uphill/thick grass at top speed even in low range. I don't have a problem with that since I don't need to go top speed anyway. My lumpy lawn would beat me to death if I went too fast. I would get the 54 again, it works for me.

Did you have a 54" mower? I run full throttle to mow and it will mow anything if you go slow -- even 2" trees. However, I always have to go below full speed in low range for thick grass even if its not very high.

Yep, a 54" mower. I would have to slow a bit if the grass was heavy and over 6" tall but always mowed in high range about half pedal.

I have a BX1500 on order with the 48'' mmm.
I really wanted a 54'' mower because the CC that the BX Is replacing has a 54'' mower deck which I really like.
I'd heard that the 54'' mmm was to much mower for the BX1500 and causes it to lug down while mowing so I resigned myself to the 48'' mmm.
Now I'm having second thoughts about the 48'' mmm and am wondering if I should switch the order to a 54'' mmm.
 Guys I need your help deciding.
Should I switch to the 54'' or just stick with the 48''?
Thanks everyone for all of your replys.

Who all has a hydraulic lift and angle front blade on their BX1500 ?

I dont. Im really disappointed in the kluge they came out with for aux hydraulics. When I bought the tractor and saw the designated slot on the fender I just knew they had an integrated accessory system up and coming. NOPE

Thanks all for your responses about the 54'' mower question.

I would still very much like to hear from everybody who has a BX1500 with a hydraulic lift and angle front blade on their BX1500!
I've had a little bit of a problem in getting one for the BX1500.
Seems Kubota don't make the 54'' blade that's for the BX1500 with the hydraulic angle option.
So what I and the dealer decided to do is order the BX2230 / B23 60'' hydraulic lift and angle front blade.
* Would love to hear about the experiences of all of the BX1500 front blade owners.

I have the 54"mm and love it. It has never bogged down or skipped a beet for me. I have even cut tall wet grass in my pasture and it never even hiccupped. If it were me I would get the 54"?
