I just finished the 50 hr service on my bx1500--no problems, thanks to good advice from this forum, however, when I checked the transmission fluid dip stick, it was dry--I put in the 2.7 gal without a drop spilling and there are no leaks. I've run the tractor and after running, there is fluid on the dip stick. Is this thing like a car transmission--i.e. you run it until it's hot before checking? I'm hesitant to add more fluid. Any advise is appreciated.

You are correct. All fluid should be checked when hot to allow for thermal expansion. Even engine oil dipsticks will have a Min/Max marking to allow for this. Junk...

Thanks, Junkman--
I guess that in the past when I checked the fluid level, it was warm.
I took the mmm off today and put the fnl on! Now I can do some real tractoring!
