On the blower it says check the oil level before use, are they referring to the hydraulic oil in the tractor? Or is there a fill on the blower itself?
Thanks

On mine that refers to the gearbox oil on blower. Checking each time is, IMHO, overkill. Long winters here and I check three times. Never had to any oil.

There should be a check hole on the gearbox of the blower, about halfway up the box.

I check and top off mine once a season, unless I see evidence of oil leaking (so far none). I use big truck hub oil and it works good. The containers even have the little cone shaped nozzle for stuffing into the little hole and squeeze the liquid in until it runs out.

Do not forget to oil the chain on the blower, I used to do it every other outing. China saw oil is recommended, also check the tension on the chain.

As to chain lube, motorcycle chain lube is probably the better route to go as it clings rather than flings, also designed for that sort of 'crappy' environment.

Motorcycle chain lube and synthetic gear oil is what I use on mine. Surprisingly the chain don't collect much if any crud being behind the blower. Snow melt is probably the biggest concern.

I think the manual for the blower calls for chainsaw lube. I do not have the blower or manual anymore since I sold my BX.

I use tacky motorcycle chain lube on mine as well, just made good sense. Do not understand how chain saw lube could be better in this application. Also, running Mobil 1 80w-90 synthetic in gear box. Yesterday was my last mow of the season, snow blower is installed, waiting on the white stuff! Philip.
