BX pull discs?

Has anyone ever tried to pull cutting discs, or use a 60" box with a BX? Would this be asking too much?

The BX can pull small gang discs, say 4 or 5 feet. A 60 inch box blade--forget it! I have a 48 Kubota blade and it works nicley but sometimes I think a 44 would be a better match in hard soil. It is not going to work a 60 inch box blade, no way. J

I would agree with TresCrows a 48" boxblade is what you want for a BX. As far as the disc. The BX should pull be able to pull a 4 to 5 ft disc but I don't think will be all that effective unless you are going over plowed ground or have really soft soil. Its pretty dry around here and a friend of mine was trying to disc some weeds along the edge of field of wheat stubble. He was using a JD5020 and a large disc with folding wings. They had the wings folded up to put all the weight on the center section and he still couldnt get it to cut deep enough. The gound was too hard and dry.

Russ, you live in Kansas? I am not native to here and I can tell you this is the worst soil, dryest soil, hardest soil, with huge cracks my dogs and I trip in even in the winter. If I had been a settler my arse would have kept going west or turned around and gone back east. Dynamite would not bust this dirt. J

Yep Im just outside of Wichita. We have pretty good farm ground around here but we haven't had a good rain in weeks. The ground is starting to crack and getting as hard a concrete. I don't know how those first settlers survived. They must have been some tough people. They would have thought they had died and gone heaven to have had our BX's to help them break this prairie.
