Bx front blower shaft shift?

Hey guys...long time no post..hehehe! OK I love my front mounted blower and really it works incredible! However it has developed a strange new quirk...and it's a pain. If I happen to bust a shear bolt I can't get a new one in. The hole in the auger and it's drive shaft won't line up, it seems that the center gearbox on the impeller shaft will shfit one way or the other. It did not always do this and let me tell ya it's a real pain in the tookas! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Has anyone else had this happen, is something broke or is it just finally broke in. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have found that each auger has a half inch or so of play when a bolt is sheared, so you have to line it up by spinning it and shucking from side to side. I use a small phillips driver to slide into the hole and rotate until I find the spot where the bolt is sheared. A small tap with a hammer will then remove the sheared bolt and a slightly larger phillips will line up the holes, including side to side.
So far, this has worked well.

Check the outer bearings, it sounds like the set screws are loose.

Pete...Yup...that's mainly what I've been doing, I have a center punch I use to drive out the broken piece of bolt. A good way to help find the spot is to look at the augers at the center of the unit, they should be 180' out from each other.

Kevin...Thanks, I think I have checked the end bearing (shaft set screws) but I'll double check again.

I had mine all apart because the set screws came loose. It appears that the gear box is not internaly thrusted. All that holds it are the bearings so grab the bearing with some pliers and see if it easy to turn them on the shaft.
