I own a BX24 and have been doing some grading. I need to rake out the work area so I can plant seed. I am hoping to find a used Landscapers/York rake. I went on craigslist and Google but have not found anything. Any suggestions? Also I was thinking a 60 inch would be a good size, does that sound right to you other BXers?

60" size works well. This time of year you are going to pay full $$$. Hard to find a deal on a shovel during a snow storm. These rakes seem to hold their value pretty well.

If the $420 price tag hurts, take comfort that you can turn around and sell it for 75%-85% of what you paid for it. Think of it as a rental.

Tractor Supply Company - CountyLine Yard Rake, 5 ft.

I bought one like this used in good condition off season for $240

I bought a Farm Force 60" with gauge wheels last July at TSC. I had a 10% off coupon and most of the attachments were on sale/clearance in July so I got a good deal on it. Can't recall the bottom line but it was maybe $150 - $200 off full retail. I think they have a clearance sale every July (if I heard the yard guy correctly).

I did look for used on CL, but the few I found were too large for my BX. So far, I'm happy with the quality of the FF rake.

I bought the 7' from TSC a couple of weeks ago, and am very glad I did. The used ones I found weren't much cheaper, and the TSC (CountyLine) seems well built. Suck it up and buy one - you'll find uses for it you never imagined, and you won't regret it.

Land Pride has a combination scarifer (ripper) bar and a landscape rake that can either be used separately, or the landscape rake can piggyback on the ripper bar. Bring up the link below and then place your cursor on the image of the scarifer bar. This will bring up the image of the piggybacked implements.

Land Pride SF25 Series Scarifier

The smallest rake only model is 48", the smallest combo. is 60".

I recently contacted Land Pride concerning the SF25 to use with a 60" LR05 I have on order and was told it would not work, as the SF25 would not fit on the Cat 0 three point used on the BXs

Since when is the 3 point on a BX Cat 0? It's Catagory 1.

I think perhaps Landpride is talking about the spacing on their implement, and not the Catagory of the hitch on the tractor. With the smaller implements, many companies are using Cat "0" spacing, and Cat 1 sized pins, and perhaps that is what they are referring to in saying that the scarifier is designed to go on a full Cat 1 implement. Sometimes I just can't believe how much dimensions vary on implements! I looked at a Cat 1 subsoiler, and it was 25" from the point to the lower pins. That is as high as many Cat 1 hitches go!

Sorta. The problem with landscape rakes is the lift geometry with such a long implement.

I have a KK XB. Relatively pricey, but fits perfect on BX. Kubota orange even.

You might want to consider a box blade over a rake. They are affordably priced. They come with scarifiers if you need to break up soil. I suspect they will perform more radical reshaping than a rake and you can use them as a scraper in both directions. I am pleased with the work my box blade is doing but have no experience with landscape rakes so just offering another, perhaps cheaper and more versatile option. Good luck with your projects and whatever implement you buy.

I still, personally, want a 48" one for my BX, but all the ones in that size seem even lighter-duty that what you'd want to put on a subcompact tractor. The reason that I'd want a 48" one is that a primary use would be to smooth out trails in the woods that I make with my 48" box blade. I'm thinking about buying a 48" category 0 one and just seeing how well it holds up. It'd probably actually wind up being fine.

Look at Landpride's offerings. I think the 05 or 15 series 48" rake might be more what you are looking for. A 5' rake at 30 degrees is about 51", and at 45 degrees it's about 42" so that might work angled too. I had thought about a 5' rake for the same reasons.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about the angled width. It sounds like I need a 4' and a 5' one! :) Thanks.

I've been looking for 5' LandPride or York for my BX24 but they are gone within 5 minutes after they appear on Craigs List. Local MB dealer wants $1015 for a LR1560 w/ gauge wheels. I'm sure many of you have received the new LandPride brochure that shows them in Kubota colors - just can't justify that yet.

Yes, a 48" rake is 46" at 15 degrees, 41 1/2" at 30 degrees, and 34" at 45 degrees. I think your BX is about 45" wide.

ChuckinNH has it correct. The size of the 3pt on the BX 24 is Cat 0 using cat 1 pins. Land Pride state the 3pt arms would not open wide enought to fit the SF 25 and due to the construction the LR05 would not fit on the SF25 as it would be narrower then the mounts.

landpride should work it you turn the pins to the inside
