Been gone a while- and I'm still awaiting delivery of my
B7500. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif But I did see it, and even sat on it, yesterday. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Well anyway, I snagged the parts list for the alternator upgrade, so I have attached a reproduction of it.
A few notes based on a brief conversation with the service manager;
<ul type="square">[*]The kit having been already installed, the box contained the stock alternator, a potted electronic module with about 6 leads ending in a white nylon connector, and a dipstick. There were a few small hardware items rattling around in the bottom of the box.
[*]The installation apparently involves enlarging one of the stock mounting holes. Because of this, the process is not reversible- you can't reinstall the stock alternator, although it might be possible to enlarge the corresponding hole and use the new, larger hardware. I'm not sure what the differences are between the various hardware items included in the kit and any stock hardware they might replace.
[*]"GAUGE, OIL" refers to the dipstick. The new larger alternator interferes with the stock dipstick, necessitating its replacement. However, the dipstick supplied in the kit didn't fit either. So they "modified" the stock dipstick, which involved bending it to clear the new alternator. I'm not sure if the "new" dipstick is any different than the stock unit.
[*] The new alternator utilizes a longer "V BVLT" (Yes it is spelled that way on the parts list), seemingly due to the different mounting location of the new alternator.
[*]The module I saw had been under the dash somewhere, and was apparently replaced by the "COMP.RELAY".
[*] There is no apparent interference with the hood or side covers, and without a side by side comparison gives the impression of a stock installation.
[*]The "FUSE SLOW BLOW 50A" would appear to replace the original "Slow blow fuse", the value of which is not specified in the
B7500 manual.
[*] I don't know what the "ASSY WIREHARNESS" includes.
[*]The "INSTRUCTION MANUAL" was not in evidence, so I don't have a step by step description of the installation process. [/list]I hope this helps someone.
