Buying a tractor

Is there any... paper? title? legal document? on a tractor? How do I know if it wasn't stolen or being sold illegally to me?

2nd Question: Kubota B2300 4wd yr 1990. Is the FEL standard equipment on this unit? Can it come off? The one I am looking at to buy also has a 4672 BH on it. How hard is it to get on/off. Is the stuff for the 3pt hitch missing because of the backhoe? I want to post hole (10") with it also, is 19 HP enough PTO HP? I don't know much about the B2300, think it may be a bit underpowered @ 24 HP. My need is for dig ditch, cabin foundation, septic field, rock'n etc. any input would be much appreciated, Thanks.

I've always bought from a dealer and never rec'd any type of title. Only a sales contract. My dealer says the info of record on (lein) title for tractors is kept in Frankfort (Ky's state capital) not in the local county court clerks office. You need to ask your court house staff or ask a local tractor dealer what your state does.

Thanks for the posts all. This tractor Backhoe I looked at just didn't smell right, , i just back away (ran) on this on, the price was to good.. local authorities are wanting to talk to the seller, and not about a tractor too. This FEL/BH was under powered/small for my needs anyway!
