Bush Hog vs Woods

Now the Woods dealer is offering a 60 inch finish mower for $1650 which is $200 less than the Bush Hog. Considering construction and performance, is there $200 difference?

I'll bet you can find a First choice 72" rear discharge finish mower out there between $1200 amd $1300, and its of equivilent or better quality.

I can't give you a direct Bush-hog to Woods comparison, but I do have a 60" Woods RM-500 finish mower and it does a real good job for me. It is sturdy and well-built and cuts well.

Make sure you're comparing the same features. Check weight of each unit - some brands have "standard" and heavy duty lines (Woods has such in their brush cutters, and "standard" is much cheaper than their heavier duty line). Then check re. slip clutch vs. shear pin. Are the guide wheels the same on each (2 are usually better than 1 re. diminishing gouging of the turf)? Anyhow, if the features seem roughly equivalent - they're both "premium" brands, so choose based on price.

Not to throw a monkey wrench in your thought process... you'd think I'm a major stock holder of KingKutter... but take a look at their 60" finish mower for $899... or 72" for $999.

I've seen all three brands... and don't see a hill of beans of difference other than the dollars spent and paint color... but alot has to do with perception of what you think...

My Woods 6 ft mower is over 25 years old and still going strong. They are certainly my preference. Here in Mich, Woods are much more readily available as are their parts. Most parts are either in stock or available within the week. Not sure about the others.
