I was also thinking that replacing the gearbox altogether may be a simpler solution than finding a 4.6:1 gear reducer that can handle that power. You would need to find out what the gear ratio is on the hog and then try to match the mower speed with the new gearbox running off the mid PTO.

The one Aaron found is only rated to 1000 RPM. Here is one rated to 1800 RPM and has a 1:1 ratio. Gets you a bit closer.

Page 27 of the owners manual (http://www.landpride.com/ari/attach/lp/public/manuals/312-556m.pdf) says its a 1:1.93 gearbox, so if you could find a 1:1 bush hog gearbox that was rated for 2500 RPM, it should work.

I looked at that one, but it is not a bush hog gearbox and as such, it doesn't have the beefed up bearings on the bottom, so mounting a bush hog stump jumper to it would probbaly break something in short order.
