I had a bolt come out of my bush hog and one blade came off. The threads are pretty mangled. I have a replacement. Any trick to replacing it by myself. I think I can get the new in and started, unsure how much torque I will need to tighten it down and how to hold the blade to do that. I only have hand tools. Any ideas are welcome. Any reason to add lock tite?

Yea, So it doesn't happen again... :D :D

I had trouble getting the thread started... bolt falling out. I did it myself and it wasn't fun. Do you have another set of hands?

I think I ended up duck taping the bolt in place to get the nut on.

Thanks for the information. I will see what I can do, if not I can take it off and bring it to my tractor shop.

I stick the bolt through and let the weight and leverage of the blade bind the bolt in the hole. Tighten with a breaker bar. Did the new bolt come with a lock washer? I've never had an issue with using a lock washer. Another option would be to drill a hole in the bolt to use a cotter pin the keep the nut from coming off.

It did come with a lock washer. Access is through a hole in the top of the mower deck, might be hard to get a cotter pin in. Also the stump jumper is pretty tight to the deck so not much room underneath to gain access.
