Rotary Cutter Bush Hog 297 Problem

   / Bush Hog 297 Problem #21
It does look like it is suppose to have a bushing which would be why it broke so much faster this time then the first. But this is only part of the problem as the others have said there should be some movement in supports coming from the top link to the rear. I don't have a picture but hopefully one of the others will have a picture to show how most of the brush choppers have a floating top link hitch system to take the shock out of the system on rough ground.

The lack of bushings are more than likely part of the problem, but does the pivot fork pivot so that the A frame can lean to the rear? If it doesn't, that could be causing the problem as well because the pivot linkage would be solid. The A frame, the pivot fork and the place where the braces mount all should be free to move. This can be done with correctly sized bushings or loose bolts with lock nuts.

I don't know how you would hook it up with the quick attach, but the top link should be allowed to float as shown. This allows the back of the Bush Hog to float when going through a ditch or over rough ground. A picture of how to hook it up is also in the Bush Hog manual.
