When i was estimating material for my house, i found that 1 stud per linear foot was a good number, even though i used 16" oc. Gave enough extras for corners, headers, etc..
Joists, rafters, sheeting are easy to count. Headers take a lot, i usually bought 1 8' per opening, or get 3 from a 10'.
I used a spreadsheet, would enter wall sizes, it would calculate material amounts. Wonder if i still have it?
