I am sure you can buy a used one much cheaper than building one from new parts. The blades and spool spacers are pretty expensive. I just looked at Agrisupply and bearing spools are $23, bearing spacer, $13.50, rear bumper end washer $14, then bearing are $20 and you need to build bearing carrier out of 1/2" plate, need axles, heavy steel 2x4 tubing for the frame and each 20" diameter blade runs $15-20 each. A 6 foot disk would have 4 blades to the gang for a total of $320 just for the blades. You can buy a nice disk used for $500.

Yes I guess I should have noted that I already had the bearings and axles. Got the awesome Craig's yard art scrap discs for free someone just wanted them outta their yard.

Get online with AGri-Supply and check out what else you may need and a steel supply for framing steel and figure up your material list. This one I bought for $500 which was a bargain as the guy selling it couldn't pull it and just wanted enough money to buy a new smaller one from TSC. Small disc on Craiglist sell for more than large 21 foot one. I have seen them 24' wide with fold up wings for less than $1000 and would make 4 ea 6 footers with additional frame materials added for 3 point hitch

i can't see if your time is worth anything how you coud build a disc cheaper than buying one. in these part's you can pickup a 5 or 6 ft disc for 3 to $400 in good working shape.

My exact suggestion, use your current parts for spares. Look for heavy duty used ones with a heavy boxed frame similar to the one I posted and make sure the gangs are not fixed. You may need to adjust them so you can use the disk for covering pasture reseeding or just not so aggressive cutting. Note in the photo of mine that it is bolted in the center with 3 different settings. Some have a screw assembly but I don't like them as the bolts get rusty and full of dirt and takes longer to do that just pulling that one bolt and sliding the gangs. Also you know that you have the front and back gang equal without having to measure.
