Buying Advice Build Stone Walls

I use my kubota b2920 to do that on my property. Its got good clearance, enough muscle for the work, but is still small enough to work in the woods without having to trim trees. I use the backhoe with a thumb for most of my wall building and it works great. Once in a while i use the Fel to help, but don't have a grapple yet.

Thanks for the tip on hydraulics. As you can tell by my questions I am totally unfamiliar with tractors and their capabilities. My only experience is years ago where I used a large tractor to move wall panels and trusses through sandy/muddy water.

I was only hopping on the manual intervention. We would like to use as large a rock as we can handle with the equipment we will eventually purchase. There have been folks dismantling the walls to make openings for ATV vehicles and we want to discourage this - therefore the larger the rocks, the better.

Sounds like the job for a BX25 w/ EMP BH Thumb and FEL Grapple.

I do it with a B7800 and a small grapple I designed and built. The rock in the picture weighs 600-700 lbs. The pile is what I stacked using it.

Great Post! I'd like to build a stone wall. I live in an area where there are many stone walls. Farmers had to do something with all the stones. I hope to get a thumb for my backhoe this summer which should make stone wall building a little easier.
