bucket level indicator

I’ve never had any trouble keeping the bucket level. The indicator rod was squeaky and I took it off. I never saw much use anyway since the bucket is usually not level by intention. It only fulfilled its use on level ground at ground level. I’m actually surprised how many people that are past the newby stage use them.

A lot of people have more experience than me, but I have used one many hours over many years. I find it very valuable. Not always, but at times.

Do any of you guys use that thing?
I got one on my tractor but it seems to be kind of unhelpful. I think I do better just looking at the load.

I use it often, mostly to adjust the curl of the bucket/forks before (or while) lowering the boom to the ground so ready to do work.
I've been using it since new (21 years now) and am not a "newbie" by any stretch.
Approaching a pallet with the forks, they are ready to engage the pallet before lowering the boom. Wouldn't be without the leveling rod.

I filed a groove at the "level" spot on the rod and put some white paint in that groove so it is more visible and doesn't get worn off.

But don't use it if it is not helpful.

I find it useful for getting the bucket just so for scraping flat. The indicator on my tractor has a bit of a hoop at level; no paint to look for.

Useless as-is for forks of course because they're attached at a different angle. I need to put paint on it for that, but I usually just stand up and watch carefully while I maneuver with forks.

Had one on my jcb1700 backhoe and have one on my LS mt225s. I use it all the time.

Not something I would be interested in. I like keeping things simple.

But why would you go battery on such deceive when you have a tractor capable of supplying continuous 12v?

The battery would probably last a couple of years and no need to mess with wires, fuses etc. interestingly good idea.

A bit fast on the draw there! I am 72 and have operated tractors since about 10 years old. I agree many bucket chores become automatic with experience. But I still use my leveller as a time saver for certain tasks.
I use it to quickly get the precise tilt to the bucket when scraping snow off driveway or barn yard. Too little and the bucket skims. Too much bite and it digs in. With many passes to do I set it, drop it and go.
Loading logs. The leveller gives the same precise tilt for my forks quickly without being too high or digging in. Without it I have to stand to see my forks.
The same goes for skimming brush with forks off the ground.
Sure I could do without but it saves time and effort for some things.
