Brown Recluse Bite - Home Remedies?

No home remedies I know of but prescription steroids oral and topical do the trick for most folks I know anyway.

We have them bad here too I have been bitten on the chest while sleeping 10 years ago. I apparently rolled over on it and killed it and found the carcass to verify what it was for the doc but nonetheless bitten.

Not a comfortable feeling either my whole side all down to my upper leg and arm ached and I had this multi colored bullseye about 6-8" in dia that stayed with me for weeks and went black and green like a bad bruise and I have a small crater of a scar at the bite site where the skin died.

This apparently happens to be breeding season for them mid May thru June and they are out in force right now my cats are finding them and killing them every nite seems like.

I have grabbed quite a few over the years laying in bed and feel one crawling across my arms and neck and thrown them at the wall. And then turned the light on and smashed whats left of them.

That is very creepy to feel something and realize its one of them when about half asleep. They seem to resist bug sprays or the exterminators just cant get into the cracks under the house they need to dont know but I hate spiders anyway these are especially nasty hardy species.

Not that I mind, but this is a zombie thread started back in 2003!!

A friend of mine was bitten several years ago. He had a nasty hole in his calf that would not heal. Finally after months of fighting the open wound, a doctor suggested hyperbaric therapy, which is where you enter a chamber and you breath 100% (or close to) oxygen. He would stay in the chamber for an hour at a time, and seems like it was an every other day treatment for three weeks. It finally healed.

Nasty little buggers. And if you find one, you have a whole mess of them that are hiding from you.

It looked like the guy that dug it up is a newbie who used the search function.
But thanks dinnar, some good info here.
Interesting that 1bush2hog posted in 2003 and 2012!!

I haven't read the whole thread so don't know if any suggested Colloidal silver. Just spray a bit on with an atomiser bottle. I know it has worked for whitetail spider bites which can make a heck of a mess and be hard to cure.

First of all, rest assured that I realize that this a old thread, but it is currently receiving new interest. I will not attempt to read all the posts, but I wish to draw this to your attention. I lived and worked in Florida for many years. The Brown Recluse Spider is quite prevalent in Florida. Please receive medical attention immediately if bitten by this spider. Go to the E.R. A good friend of mine had his Wife lose a third of the calf of her leg due to being bitten by a Brown Recluse. She thought that it was a mosquito bite. Three days later, after going to the E.R., the surgeon removed a very large portion of the calf of her leg. I can tell you several more incidents relating to this subject that I am personally aware of, but this one should convince you of the severity of this spider's bite. I wish to reiterate, RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION ASAP.
