I got bit in the thigh a few years ago by a brown recluse back when I lived in Texas. I didn't know what it was at the time, so I didn't do anything about it. I took about 3+ months for the wound to heal. If I picked off the scab (sorry) even a couple of months after the bit, it felt and looked like a fresh burn. I only learned after the fact what caused this wound during a trip to the zoo. I really consider myself lucky that there wasn't any complications. I also consider myself lucky that found the black widow that was only twenty feet from the spot where the recluse bit me before she found me. I told my wife if I saw a tarantula anywhere near the house that I would be moving immediately. We moved, but it wasn't due to our 8 legged friends. We actually had a black & yellow garden spider that we almost considered a pet. This guy was about 4" leg to leg, and had a huge web by our patio. I liked him since he ate lots of bugs. Of course one day my mother-in-law killed him despite knowing our fondness for the big-guy. She said she couldn't stand it anymore. I hope I never get on her bad-side. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
As far as remedies, I have no experience since I didn't treat my wound, but my mother used Bag Balm on us kids whenever we got a wound and it always seemd to work. I know it is meant for live stock, but family folklore says it will heal anything. Oh-yeah I'm not a medical doctor so please don't listen to me.
