2009 Mahindra 3316 HST-2008 Mahindra 7010 cab - 2004 Mahindra 6000 4X4
Well I finally did get 50 hours on the 7010. Went to my dealer and he made me a hose up to replace the one that burst. Thought I was back in business for a while. I had about 20 or so acres that I needed to get grass growing on so I hooked up the disc and started to work. Made about 5 passes around the field and bam as I made a left turn the left front wheel never came back straight. On further inspection I found that the tie rod mount had broken. This is going to be a definate trip to the dealer.

I'll try to get a pic up and provide a link to it.

Raised the front end off the ground with the loader and pallet forks and drove backwards steering with the brakes. Not exactly easy! Aleast now it is where it can be loaded.

I would hope Mahindra would cover that even if its out of warranty (assuming they can't prove you did this as a result of abuse) under the "latent defects" laws that many states have. Such defects can be detected many years after any warranty is up if it can be proved that it was a bad casting from the start....BobG in VA

Never had any trouble with a Mahindra warranty claim and I've made a few, but you never know. I could see nothing wrong with the casting. I can't explain how it broke. I've put the 6000 through some pretty tough stuff and never had any problem with it. Actually what I was discing with it was a lot rougher. We were pulling a light disc across a bulldozed feild with the 7010. The field wasn't rough, but it did have a root rake used on it so it wasn't pancake smooth either. It was a bit steep and turning to come up the hill to the left. Either way it's got to be fixed and with such low hours and only having it since January it's still got lots of warranty left.
Just wondering how long it's going to be before they release that 8560 cab 4x4. Now would be a convenient time to trade!

The last time I asked my sales rep when it would be available I was told mid January. Seems to me that was a couple of months ago. Funny isn't it!

I can't pin anyone at Mahindra down on a date. That's the biggest reason I went with the 7010. I needed another tractor and wanted a cab to get through this winter. I was told it would be at the Farm Show in Louisville and then found out shortly before that it would not be. I'm told it's something to do with customs. Something about they would not let it out of port. That was last month. This is purely me repeating what I was told. I don't know if it has an ounce of truth.
As I said this would be a convenient time to trade. If there was one sitting on the lot I might not be able to resist!

Joel,
So sorry to hear (and see) your third problem with your 7010. I do wish Mahindra would do something concrete with 8560.
hugs, Brandi

I geuss there are bugs to work out on any new tractor. Actually I've had 4 problems with the 7010. 1-The injection timing was not correct 2-leaking loader valve o ring 3-FEL hose burst 4-Broken tie rod mount. The only thing that was really a Mahindra problem is the injection timing. The others are TYM and KMW problems. Nothing to get excited about until the tie rod mount. I'm just confused as to how it broke. I know it wasn't abused and the casting looks fine. If this pattern continues I'll certainly be ready to trade by the time the 8560 gets here. At the rate it's going I may have the 7010 paid for by then.

Joel,
The metal could have been contaminated during the manufacturing process and that caused a weak spot. Is there old dull looking metal at the break besides new shiny metal? The old dull looking metal is the weak spot and the shiny metal is what broke on you.

No actually I can see nothing wrong. No pits. No contamination. It has me puzzled. All bright and shiny like it all just broke at once. No evidence of a crack or anything.

Well, it's been a week and 5 days now plus 2 scheduled times the dealer was going to pick up the tractor and it is still sitting here. I geuss it's time to explore other options!

Just curious. What kind of excuses did the dealer give for not showing up? Service after the sale is a sensitive subject with me. It seems that the only thing sales people are interested in these days is to just get it off the lot or out of the store. Tryin to make a return customer is something that has been moved to the bottom of the priority stack. Sorry to get off on a tangent, but I do feel a little better now.

Called immediately after it broke and the dealer called back a couple days later and said they would be delivering a tractor south of me and they would pick it up on the way back. Never showed. My better half called Thursday and they said they would be out to pick it up that evening or the next day. Still never showed. No contact since. I'm tied up in the chickenhouse most of the day. I have tried to call when I could get to a phone but it's always been busy. I would load it on the trailer and take it myself, but it's gonna be kind of hard to get it exactly on the ramps. Dealer has a rollback flatbed truck. That would be much easier. Don't mind to pay for pickup. Even told them to go ahead and service it while they had it.

I would let them know you are not happy.
I didn't know you could tell someone you were coming to pick up their tractor 2 different times, not show up either time and not know they would be unhappy. Geuss I missed that one!
Hope you're not implying I should be talking to him and not posting here.
I think everyone should know when you are not getting the service you deserve.

Joel,
I wasn't implying that and I just thought some harsh words might get the ball rolling. I find it hard to believe that this isn't already taken care of. I know I get busy too and sometimes put some issues off, but when a customer is down I do what I have to do to get it done.

Going buy what others have said about the same problem on TBN it's because the steering stops are adjusted so that the ram still has more extension left after they make contact . The casting is not strong enough to withstand the hydraulic force after the stops are contacted and it fails .

I think you're right. Wallace suggested this might be the problem. Definately the first thing I'll check when I get it fixed.
