Anyone using any kind of Bramble Bar (Bar Guard) on their mover, do you find it very useful? Berta sells one for their flail movers. In the mover manual they refer to it as Tubular Anti-Hooking Device for Brambles and Shrubs.

Too much trouble to source one so I made one from rebar. Works okay, but I think making it from a smooth round pipe would be better.

Mower not mover

My rotary mower has a bar out front, just not particularly high. Thinking your design would work better in brambles, but I tend to just push through them until I can't go further, reverse, come in at a slightly different angle, and continue.

It would probably help bend tall material to a better angle to be sucked in to the mower but remember if you encounter a lot of stiff saplings it will need to be strong enough not to torque and bend. Rebar is going to bend very easy because it is made to have a low shear strength.

Thanks for the feedback.

My Billy Goat (hate it) also has a similar short bar at front, would probably work better if higher. With the bar on the Berta I still have to reverse after a bit, but can go much further before reversing when clearing bramble.

So far it is working pretty well as I have to deal mainly with bramble and soft saplings. If I had to do it over I would definitely use a stronger, round and smooth material, but this will do fine for a while.
