Lastly, is it possible to get the rear implements to tilt from side to side hydraulically for making a swail or will that cost a fortune?

Search on 'Tilt' on the forum and you'll find all kinds of info on the topic. Here's one

Yes to both questions./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Do a search for "Hydraulic Tip 'N Tilt" and "Top 'N Tilt" and you'll find more than you want to read./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif You can do it for $800 to $1,000, which seemed unreasonably high to me but it sure is handy.

using a rear box blade would have been easier?

I'm betting it would have been a lot easier, Jeff. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif With a box blade, all you'd have to do is set the blade on the ground and drive over the area you're trying to level. It gathers up the dirt from the high spots and holds onto it until you go over a low spot, at which point the low spot gets filled in and leveled off. It's like magic. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Knocks off high spots and fills in low spots -- kinda reminds me of what Lightnin' said on that old Amos and Andy show when discussing a thermos bottle. "It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold -- how do it know?" /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

As for tilting the blade, I think Mike and Bird have already answered that one. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Harv, I went out to get some pictures but today is a dreary day and the cats wern't real cooperative. I did manage to snap these two though. :) The only thing wrong with these pictures is the tractor isn't in them. I try to discourage the cats from being around the tractor, always afraid I will really 'shorten' one of them.

I never used to like cats and therefore never had any until we 'inherited' one a few years ago. Now I like them better than most of the dogs we've had. We've had as many as 5 cats at one time but now we're down to 3, in addition to the 3 horses and 2 dogs (Lab mix and a Siberian Husky).

Thanks for sharing the cat pictures, Thumper. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I do see the resemblence to DeeJay.

Thanks to my wife, we have 5 indoor cats down here in suburbia. I confess I'm attached to them now, but I'd still rather have a couple of dogs. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Up in the country, though, I really enjoy a savvy cat. No matter where I am on the 42 acres, I always see DeeJay lurking nearby, keeping an eye on me. I get a great kick out of seeing him stalk, and frequently catch, a hapless lizard, bird or bug. I'm not a hunter myself, but it seems perfectly natural for a cat to "go for the kill". /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

We've got an indoor cat. The other week we had the porch door cracked open and apparently a mouse got in. Anyway, while we were sleeping that night we heard the cat going nuts in the dining room. My wife went in to shut him up. David! come quick! the cats got a mouse cornered. The cat had this little mouse cornered and when it would squeek at the cat, the cat would jump! He didn't know what to do with it. I grabbed the mouse by the tail and let it outside. The cat was so proud of himself. I gave him a treat out of the fridge.

Duane: that old ford was a wonderful tractor, but the sec. u off loaded the back end u were done(no traction). also it is a real pleasure to be able to slow down and still have the mower going at full tilt. b2400 more hp, more control, 4wd, power steering, pc, live hydraulic, and such a pretty color/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif whats not to like?

I certainly agree with you... with one exception, as you probably expected. I had my JD4100 parked outside the window this afternoon with the new Woods rear blade I got for it and thought how those colors didn't go together. I may have to paint that orange blade JD green! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I think the 2N might have a horse or two more than my 4100, but I haven't noticed any lack of power, especially with the HST. I have cut some pretty good sized trees and hauled them up the hill out of the woods below my house with both tractors, and the 4100 actually equalled or outpulled the 2N - and the front wheels stayed on the ground.

Say, Frank, when are we going to get some snow?
