Grading box blade for my 2210

Sounds like maybe the 'L' thing is over-rated. I'm not sure what the difference in height is on the limited category 1, but now I'm wondering if the lighter weight of the L stuff isn't a down side - seems like a couple of hundred pounds heft would be of help with a box blade - I'd think that the heaver device stands up better agains the ground.

Does the Woods have a fixed back blade?

You're right that more weight makes the BB work better (less "floating" over high spots instead of cutting into them). But I found that the "L" models still cut a big bite into the ground, with a sacrifice of box capacity. Without any additional weight my GBC48 will float at times, however sometimes this actually helps. If I need more cut off I just go back over it.

It was hard comparing full size to the subcompact, as I found out that many dealers do not stock the smaller ones. The GBC48 seemed to be a "in the middle" size in regards to box height, which is what I was looking for. The heavier BB's are obviously more heavy duty, but don't dismiss the smaller ones as inadequate. They too are well made and match well with this size tractor. When I need more "bite" I just add more weight.

So I found that more weight does make the BB work better. And yes, my Woods does have a fixed back blade.

Thanks a lot for posting the pictures of your BB in use. Though raised on a farm, and with many hours of seat time, I've never seen a BB used here in my part of NH. The dealers are beginning to stock them, so I guess use is on the rise. I wondered how they would work in sod.
