I've got a 3039R with the HD bucket (removable cutting edge). The top plate on these buckets has a second layer of steel welded to the bottom lip - looks like the two plates are about 1" apart. If you look on Ebay or Amazon, these pre-made bolt on plates are all over the place for $30 for the L/R side pair with free shipping - there's also a wider center one with 2 hooks, 2 rings, and a 2" receiver for $40. They seem to be meant for the single layer steel buckets, but i'm thinking i can just drill through both layers and put a sleeve in so I can tighten the bolts without crushing the two layers, causing them to eventually loosen up. Just curious if anyone else has tried these? wondering if the bent down flange will interfere with the weld to the bottom plate and require trimming? Still seems like it would be worth the effort compared to the initial cost.
