Bobcat 324
2014 model. Has the kubota 722 engine in it. Never had a problem with it. A couple of weekends ago I was using it and it would start to bog at high RPM with no hydraulics being used. I would bring it down to idle and back to full and no issues. 5 minutes later start to bog again. Figured maybe my fuel gauge was off so I topped it off.

Wasn't empty. Then it started dying on me. It always start back up and run good then bog down and die. Starts again.

I parked it. I gotta get it back to my house but wife wrecked the truck so hopefully my dad can grab it for me.

New fuel filter last fall.

When I get it here, where should I start. Fuel or more electrical? Usually a fuel problem doesn't start so easy when it's "starved".

Thanks for any idea

Could you have a restricted fuel flow? Enough for starting and low rpms but no enough for higher roms and a work load.

Plugged air filter? Mouse nest in the intake?

Checked the air filter thinking the same thing but it was clear all the way down.

Also have an OEM fuel filter coming.

It's intermittent problem which is frustrating.

Wife used it the other day and ran great until she put it back in the barn and then it started bugging down again.

It’s possible that the supply pump is weak and won’t deliver enough fuel at WOT.
It’ll be just fine at low idle and part throttle but at hi idle it would bog..

In a machine that works in “dirt” all its life, change the fuel filters 2x a year.. it’s GOOD insurance..& cheap.!!

Years ago I had a tractor that had a similar sounding problem and it was the fuel transfer pump.

Been going through my maintenance manual and it basically only covers the injection pump and injectors.

I know the pressure it's supposed to put to the injectors but doesn't give a feed pressure to the pump. Gotta do more research on that.

10 year old machine, has 1500 hours on it and even though it's ran flawlessly, things get old and break.

What about the vent for the fuel tank? I would check that as well. Sometimes there is a dedicated vent on the tank, other times, it vents through the cap.

Didn't think about the vent. Everything has to breath and sometimes the small things get overlooked.

That's why sites like this are helpful

Fuel pressure TO the inj pump depends on which pump or pumps u have..
If it’s easier, just post a pic.

Wife is on her way to property now to get firewood. I told her to take a pic.

If you squeeze the fuel bulb (last photo), does it seem like it is moving fuel? Does it firm up after several squeezes? When it is running bad, does squeezing the bulb get it running better pretty quick? Sometimes the check valves in the bulb go bad. The lift pump is right after the bulb. You can get a clear piece of fuel line to put between the lift pump and the filter to see if you are getting bubbles in the fuel. A cracked pick up tube in the fuel tank may be allowing some air in if you see bubbles.

Did you drain a bit of fuel from the filter to see if there was any water? One bad batch of fuel is all it takes to condemn the fuel filter.

Honestly, I've never used the fuel bulb.

Got pic of everything BUT the inj pump.. lol
I can decipher it by looking at the injectors tho..
8 psi will make it run good..
If u T into the inj pump inlet, that’ll give u an accurate reading.

Thanks. I'll check it out and see what I get. Figured pressure was pretty low since typical hose clamps were used.

Went out tonight and checked in the filter drain, no water.

Does yours have the squeeze-bulb type manual primer in the fuel line? Mine had that, and the check valves in it got gummed up and restricted the flow of fuel, which gave me similar symptoms. I cleaned it which solved the problem for a while, but it came back periodically and I eventually took the bulb out till I can get a new one.

sounds like a clogged fuel filter to me. but it could also be a clogged screen in the petcock at the tank
