John Deere 2155
Hi guys,

The photos say it all, but I've got a brand new block heater with a snapped power cord (1989 John Deere 2155). Was hoping to just plug and play with a new cord but the side that attaches to the block has a rubber weld and appears to be part of the unit.

Obviously I prefer not to replace the whole unit. Can this be fixed? How? Thanks guys.

You could use weatherproof butt connectors to connect to a new cord. You could then put shrink wrap over all the connectors.

Separate the wires and solder end to end so shrink wrap seals it good.

Easiest way would to just put a new cord end on the wires.
Or, you could try removing the lower cover and replacing the cord.

From Kat's heaters;
Another style of Kat's engine heater is a circulating coolant heater. This style is installed in a coolant line on your vehicle. It circulates the coolant through while heating it. Warmer engine coolant during cold weather will ease the stress on starts, gives heat to your cabin much faster, warms the oil faster, and leads to a longer life for your engine.

Splice a new cord onto the wires. Lots of different ways. Or, put a receptacle on the piece of cord that’s left.

Lots of different ways. All will work. Your choice.

As mentioned in previous posts just put a new end on. Cheap and easy

You’re probably already using an extension cord. Just put a plug on the new end of the heater cord and enjoy less excess cord in the off season. No splices.

The block heaters on both my tractors are like this. Never considered it would be done any other way. I put the extension cord on the short pigtail, that has a plug on the end.
