Blades on a box blade

Are you worried that your road 9or what ever) is not going to be flat after you do work to it? When you say blades are you talking a land plane (which normally have two blades) or a box blade with a single blade? The only thing I would be concerned with would be the bottom of the blade, the part that actually touches the ground, the part with the holes for the bolts wouldn't bother me one bit if it wasn't flat. Even then I wouldn't worry about the edge not being too flat. Even an inch (which I would think would be pretty extreme) probably wouldn't be noticeable in the dirt over 5 or 6 foot wide blade. I guess that's the real question for you, just how much is it curved?

My box blade does have two blades, one on both sides of the inverted V, because the V is not flat along the length it bends the blade and that results in the edge that touches the ground not to be flat, I have not measured it yet but I'm guessing 1/8" to 1/4" in 60". I figured I would get varying opinions on what exceptable is. I'm not trying to be ****, I just think it should be flat so each pass does not have a dish to it.

1/8 - 1/4" would drive me nuts- especially if I was doing finish/final grading.

1/8" flex over a 5 foot blade? Come on guys, this is not a big concern. The blade will wear more that that with minimal use.

I really don't want to mention the brand, unfortunately when you mention a brand you get accused of brand bashing and unfortunately the point and subject matter of a thread gets way off subject, at this point I am more interested in other's opinions and what the standard is and what we should expect from a quality built box blade. Not ignoring your question but I think you know my point.

I'm just curious, at what point would you reject a box blade being not flat on the cutting edge, over 60" 1/8"-1/4"-1/2" ? I'm just trying to get some idea of unexceptable. If you had a blade that was not flat do you think it would wear flat Or continue to wear curved.

If you read post #17 I really don't want to take a picture because it might give away the brand, and I don't want to be accused of brand bashing or get a lot of people mad, maybe I can try to take a picture without giving away the brand. I have no experiance with box blades and want others opinions who are experienced.
