Blades do not spin

Hi I have a John Deere 214. When i engage the PTO the blades do not move
Belts are in place, and moving, nothing jammed or blocking the blades from turning. Stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that your blade spindle pulleys are turning but not the blades?

Are all the belts tight.

Is the idler pulley turning and spring loaded.

Is the engine to deck pulley turning?

Then I would suggest the key way on a spindle is wrung off and the pulley is just spinning on the spindle.

If it has an electric clutch, it might be dead.

on the front of the 214, there is a spring tensioner. crank the handle until the spring touches the front frame, then back off 1/2 turn. if the belt still slips, you have the wrong belt or the spindles are binding. MAke sure to replace belt with a genuine JD part.

IF the belts are turning, and the pulleys are not, either there is a bind or the belt is too loose.

IF the pulleys ARE turning the bolt that holds the blades on could be loose, ot you could have broken the spindle shafts. But odds are, the bolts are loose.
