Backhoe BH77 owners

Hi Ronster and 1savoy,

I ordered the bh77 thumb from Messicks today. They have to get it from Kubota and that will take 2 day's and then send it out to me UPS. Also it weighs 56 lbs. I did not ask shipping cost or tax if applicable. I did ask if all pins and parts needed are included and got a clear yes on that question. The quote was $465. If my dealer had been this clear and straight forward I would have purchased the thumb last summer when I got the backhoe. Thanks for the input guys.

Sounds good :thumbsup: You will really enjoy the thumb. Sorry to hear your local dealer does not seem the best.

Take care,
Russ

Here's what I am trying to do. I just noticed this morning that the bucket pin and the next pin on the dipper stick are way too close together to use the Kubota thumb. It needs to either curve around the pin on the stick or be wide enough ( 8") to clear the pin. If you watch this video you see the thumb is wide enough to clear the pin on the stick. It's a real nice thumb, but ya gotta have your machine in Washington State.
Regards

The BH77 thumb arrived 6/1/2013. The Bad news is that the two pins at each end of the Link adjust were lost by UPS. :duh: As well as the bolts that keep them in place. :smiley_aafz: Messicks called back next business day and will get the missing parts to me No problem. And asked me to keep the box with the hole in it should UPS want to investigate. Packaging was well done so UPS has no excuse. The hole in the corner of the box has black powder coat paint on it where the pins slide out.
Yesterday I tried to put the one pin I have into each hole on the thumb and found it would not line up straight. Don't worry !!!!! Turns out the orange paint is so thick it binds up the pins. Do not force them !!!!. A few minutes with sandpaper (120 grit) and a wood dowel and everything fits and lines up nicely. One thing for sure I have had time to get familiar with the parts and how I will install the thumb, so I see all will work out well. Keep throwing those Lemons at me and I will start making Lemonade.

Just wanted to let all know that the OEM thumb parts arrived in short order and will be working on installing it in next few days. Also just had to show my right hand fender grip for the L3800. Couldn't believe that Kubota would not install that except on the GRAND series. Well as you can see it is used a lot. I had to get it back to the dealer to load the tires It gets some notice from the mechanics. It is also very sturdy. Maybe when the class action law suit comes they will send me a OEM hand grip for free.

I know I'm late to the party, but i put a thumb on a Kx008. I think I used a thumb off a BX25 and paid around $250 for it. I had to grind a little on my 9" bucket and alter a pin, but it works. I use mine to set rocks on decorative fish ponds. I don't know if it was really worth the trouble.

You can order the exact OEM grab handle for that side right from your dealers parts area. It’s like a $40 part with the fasteners.
