I have a decent amount of work to be done but that is mostly in the early stages of the land clearing prepping. This would be things like trenching for electric. Trenching for well pipe. Digging out a septic field. Digging out a hill for a walkout basement. Digging out footings for foundations. Trenching for the runoff on a 600 ft driveway. At some point I'll be adding some other structures on the property that need foundations. I might even pick up some work on the side just for fun if I haven't gotten sick of being in a tractor if that is a thing. Lol! If I run out of projects I imagine I could probably sell it and recoup a decent amount of $$$ for it. Beats renting and excavator for $400/day plus $200 for delivery and pickup and I can take my time if I need to and not rush to get things done before it has to go back.
Water line in my area is 6 ft deep. If you get a 9 ft backhoe you are going to be moving a whole lot. Same for footings if you need to get 4 ft or more. 9 ft just isnt much reach at all.
Electric is usually 2 ft, so not a problem.
That said, the excavation company that did our house foundation wanted $4000 to dig 310 ft of electrical trench. That was an easy $4000 I saved by doing it myself. It definitely adds up.
