Best 3 trucks you've ever owned.

My 2019 ranger. Its been a joy to operate, gets great fuel mileage, tows plenty and we use it as a work truck. Gee, I think I've only ever owned is three trucks!

I’ve had a lot of trucks over the years, these by far have been the best ones.

1954 GMC 9 ft bed 17" split rims. 6 cyl 4 spd 5 window cab. 1st truck. A real workhorse.
1985 GMC 3/4 ton 454 auto. 1st new truck. A real workhorse with air conditioning.
1995 Ford 7.3 diesel 5 spd extra cab dually. Bad to the bone.

1. International 9900i with C15 Cat. Over 2 million KM last time I had it, nothing but a water pump and turbo to keep Cat extended warranty.

2. 1995 Ford Explorer 2 door Sport with 4.0L V6. 400,000 KM only front wheel bearings (aside from battery, wipers, tires) Only retired because wife was in accident, Ford dealer body shop did the body and paint repairs, then it rotted away instantly after that.

3. 1977 Ford F100 351M on propane. Loved that truck, too bad the body rotted off it.

If I could find another 95 Explorer mint shape no rust I'd buy it. I miss real body-on-frame SUV

My first truck (hand me down from my dad) was a dodge Dakota V6 that thing had 300 000km on it when we sold it and it stayed on the road for a other 6/7 years that was a good truck for us

My current dodge ram 1500 2012 has been really good to me other then CV shaft and brakes it has been awesome.

Ok my honorable mention goes to a 2001 regular cab step side short box, 5 speed with the 2.4 engine (I believe), 4wd Tacoma couldn't haul or tow much lol but that truck could also go anywhere was relatively problem free minus a factory frame replacement it was a pretty cramped cab and it had factory bucket seats. I've found over the years of it's a 4cylinder engine it better have a 5 speed manual or they aren't fun to drive for me anyway.

2011 F-350 crew 6.2 gas 4wd...hand down the best truck we ever had. Bought new and kept 12 years.

2005 F-350 crew 6.0 diesel 4wd...one egr cooler, 3rd owner still has it with 200k...great towing truck.

1999 F-250 LD 7700 gvw Supercab 4wd. 5.4 3:73 gears. Nice heavy half ton truck.

3 Ford F350's all diesels, all 4x4's First one was a 6.9 International motor, second was another 6.9 and the last one (that I still have is a 7.3 IDI). My wife had a Ranger Edge with the V6 and 4 wheel drive. What a pig on gas and constant issues. She dumped that a while ago and got a Ford Transit van (still has that) and now she has a Chevy Suburban LTZ, another gas pig, but I don't pay for the fuel, I just maintain it. The Transit van is her grocery getter and dog hauler to the vet. Has over 190K miles on it and other than a muffler or 2 and normal maintenance, has been trouble free. It actually has the same engine I have in my Ford Focus.

I'd never have an early model Dodge (RAM) pickup truck. Notorious rusters with a terrible transmission.

2000 Chevy 1500 W/T longbox 4.8Vortec 245k miles when sold it. Still in service around the valley.
Current 2004 Chevy 1500 W/T Ext cab. 5.3 Vortec 101k miles, been totaled twice and rebuilt.

#1 2019 F350 6.7 Powerstroke, LB/CC/4x4 Lariat Ultimate package: only 35K + miles so far. So much power, decent fuel mileage, super comfortable and most of the bells and whistles. Just need to get the DW fixed.

#2 2006 F350 6.0 Powerstroke, LB/CC/4x4 XLT: Great running Truck! Tuner, ARP headstuds, 4" Exhaust, 184K miles when traded in for the 2019.

#3 2002 F250 7.3 Powerstroke LB/SC/4x4 6Spd manual: Awesome truck! great MPG, 16.7MPG average over the 83K miles when traded for the '06, often hit 18-19 when not towing. If I had ordered it as a CC F350, I might still be driving it.

#4 Honorable mention, 1983 Toyota std cab, 2WD 5 spd manual Deluxe trim, my very first vehicle bought 4 months before I turned 16. Paid $5500,00 in Springfield MO.
A few months later paid $600 to have the A/C installed (None shipped with A/C, dealer installed A/C back then). Got 33mpg on the hilly MO. highways, IIRC, never got below 27mpg.
I made a set of slide it cattle (calf) racks for it in Vo-Tech so we could haul calves.
Even pulled a portable squeeze chute on our gravel road once with it.

Favourite trucks ... of the ones that I've owned

1) 1993 Chevy Silverado C2500 ext cab, automatic 350 cid V8, Z71 package (2wd) beefy suspension (?) with highback canopy, 6.5 ft box - this is my current truck, just hit 169,000 kms last week (barely broken in). I love this truck, it's in good shape with a few scratches (work, farm truck). It is NOT a 4x4. My only wishes were that it would be 4x4 with a long box.
SOOOOoooo many people have commented / expected that it MUST BE a 4x4, ... but it isn't. Ultimately, I added some bogus 4x4 stickers (under the Z71 stickers) ... as a joke

2) 2007.5 (new style) GMC Sierra crew cab, 4x4, 5.5 ft box, all the extras including video screen from ceiling - nice truck, too pretty for me, sold it when the kids started driving. Bought wife her dream car (Murano) to replace it.

3) 1986 Nissan King Cab, EXPO '86 edition, 2wd, automatic, push button everything. Suitable for 80 % of my needs, but family outgrew the 4 seats. Reluctantly sold it locally, saw it for a few years, but not lately. I tried to locate it 3 yrs ago, to buy it back.

Honourable Mention - 1964 El Camino custom ... it's a truck, registration says so, and it's COOL. Runs, drives. Looking to convert the 305 cid engine back to an as original 327 cid auto with 2 speed powerglide.

I just met up with another farmer today. He was driving a Ford 6L. Sounded awful. He just gawked at my Ram the whole time, asked me all kinds of questions. Of course one was “Hey when did ja get the Dawdge CumminGs?“

I reminded him “Dawdge” hasn’t made trucks for over a decade.
Ford guys are kinda slow.

Man I miss the days when you could just talk straight up, you know?
Now it’s all about feelings.
