Bercomac snowblower problem

I have 72" Bercomac, model #700969-1-33v with the 33hp B&S mounted on a tractor. B&S engine is running, second stage is spinning augers are not. The shaft from the second stage to the gearbox that drives the augers is spinning. I can spin the augers freely. Both move together. All three shear pins are fine. It appears something is disconnected in the gearbox. Anybody know what I should inspect/expect if I open the gearbox? Any ideas on what could be wrong? There doesn't feel like there's any grinding or binding going on.
I'm not sure if this is the best spot for this question, please redirect me if there is a better forum for it.

I took it apart today. The input shaft is sheared in two right behind the worm gear. Thankfully all the gears look ok.

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need an entire replacement cross auger and gearbox with the 3 shafts and bearings that come with it.

This nasty item is part number 2 on page 36 of the owners manual.

I hope you are within their one year warranty period.

Hardox steel would cost

Curious as to what Hardox steel is, is that similar to a hardon?

Never heard of Hardox, sounds like a trade name. You want shafting drawn from alloy steel that is shock resistant and machinable. Consult a Machinery's Handbook for the correct grade and it won't be 'Hardox' whatever that is....
