This is a real common problem for tractors, particularly those with tie rods on the front of the axle. I've bent 3 rods. The first one I actually broke off. (I like to use tractors hard). I have become pretty good at removing tie rods. The easiest way is with a air hammer with the blunt tool or hammer head in the tool. Pushing against the top of the bolt, (they always has a shoulder to allow for this) a few hits on the air trigger is typically all it takes. If you screw up the threads, you could chase them or if its really bad, replace the tie rod end. Its no problem to go to a NAPA or equivalent store to get them replaced. I've found no difference in quality between OEM and auto stores. If and when you get a bent rod off, take it to either a auto machine shop or your local tractor dealer and in .5 seconds they can straighten in a press what 5' of levers and sledge hammers could never do. I have yet to have them charge me. I have not purchased a new rod yet but figure after bending it a few more times I will have sufficiently weakend it to the point where replacing it will be best. If you haven't bent a tie rod yet you either have a tie rod behind the axle or your not using your tractor hard enough, try it, you'll like it. Rat....
