bent power steering piston

Anyone ever straighten the cylinder piston? Ive bent my power steering piston on my 4510. Been like that for some time but I would like to fix it. Its bent enough to leak fluid very slowly. New piston from Deere is about $500. Or, is the shaft perhaps replacable?

All parts are replaceable. My local hydraulics shop fixes many of them. I was lifting a telephone pole out of the ground woth a Case 580 when one cylinder sent the piston out on a very curved mission. The damage was limited to the piston and was repaired quickly at far less cost than a replacement unit. Check around .

I assume you mean the cylinder rod is bent and the rod packing is now out of shape and leaking. I would change out the cylinder complete since by the time you round up the individual parts (if available) there won't be much to save.

As Joe mentions in above post if you have a hydraulics shop that can do the work then by all means get an estimate and compare.

While pushing snow I drove off a wall and broke my steering cylinder shaft. I checked all the cylinder repair shops in my area and all told me the same thing. Buy a new one. On the 4310 (I suspect the 4510)there is no repair for the cylinder as the tractor was manufactured with a welded cylinder. On the bright side, the new one is rebuildable. I think mine was $430 two years ago.

If you find someone to repair yours let me know as I still have my broken one.
