I heard recently that having the fan belt too tight can cause the yannies to overheat. Does anyone know if there is validity to that statement?

Thanks,

William

I really don't see a reason why it would cause it to overheat. Hard on alternator and water pump bearings - yes...overheat, I just don't see the connection. Too loose, howver, could cause it to overheat.

I am not expert so take my comments with a grain of salt.

I'm no expert either, but I agree./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I also agree, there is no way it would have any connection to overheating, by being tight.

Like allenp said not good for the bearing also for the pullies, plus the cost of a belt $$.
