I am trying to mount an original Yanmar YMM-45 belly mower under an 1100D.

The mower deck has never been used, and came with very little bracketry to mount to the tractor. My understanding that there were kits to mount these on US model 135s originally.

Does any one have an ownwers manual with a parts breakdown for the attaching bracketry and front PTO set up they could share, so I can see what I am up against?

Does anyone know if any factory parts are still available?

I have attached a picture of what little bit I have.

Thanks!
Bill

I have the owner/parts manual. Parts may be available. I think the front clutch maybe available.

Since gbirky hasn't chimed in yet, I'll give you the link to his web page, where he has some photos of his YM1301D with a YMM-45 attached. You can see some of the brackets in these photos.

Grower,
I have most parts for mounting the YMM45 mower, including the front PTO and switch.
In your photo it shows one side mount, do you have the other side? They aren't very expensive.
If you send me your e-mail address I will send you a complete breakdown of the parts you need to mount it on your tractor. Gary J.

Attached is a scan of the parts breakdown for the mounting hardware. I also have a manual for the YMM-60 which was driven by the rear pto. I can scan a page of that too if you are interested.

Remember, the scan from gbirky is the mounting parts for a YM1300, not for your YM1100.

Actually, the manual states that it is for YM135 (YM1100), YM155 (YM1300) and YM155D (YM1300D). That does NOT include the YM135D which is the equivalent of the YM1100D. The parts are the same for the YM135, YM155, and YM155D, but you use different mounting holes, and you need the extra back side idlers and a different belt for the YM135.

You may have some clearance issues with the YM1100D front axle and driveshaft.

The front left and right mounting brackets are not the same length for the 155 (1300) and the 135 (1100). Nor are the front tow links the same for those two models of tractors. The 155 has a longer frame and takes longer brackets and tow links.
I have mounted over a hundred of these YMM mowers since 1974, and have alot of experience with them. The mower deck is the same, but their mounting kits are slightly different, as is the front PTOs.
I have also mounted many YMMs on 135D tractors,

I'm glad to hear that there is someone out there with alot of knowledge when it comes to these mowers. I didn't mean to step on any toes. It is a bit disconcerting to see that the manual does not list different parts for the two tractor models, particularly the pto.

How well does the YMM-45 work on the 135D? It seems like the clearance between the deck's center pulley guard and the front drive shaft would be very minimal.

Bill,
Here's a scan of the "tractor mounted" parts for the YMM-60. This deck is driven by the rear pto with a large pulley (around 12" diameter if I remember right). This might be a less expensive alternative, but would require quite a bit of fabrication. Since your's is a YM1100, it should have higher pto speeds, so wouldn't require the 12" pulley. I think I figured out that an 8 or 10" pulley would work for the YMM-45 with pto at 1300 rpm.

I hope this helps.
Greg

I didn't mean to come on quite so strong.
Yanmar packaged the Operators Manual with the Mounting kit, so when a dealer ordered a kit for the YM155, it didn't show the parts for a YM135, and vice versa.
There is about 3" to 3 1/2" of lift before the guards contact each other, almost as much as on a YM155, both those models used the same size Ag tires (5-12).

gbirky,
Do you remember the first undermount mower that Yanmar had for their tractors? The 'Ranger U34YM and U35YM' ?
They both ran off the rear PTO like the YMM60.The model numbers meant-Undermount-3blade -4'-Yanmar Mower, which fit the YM135 and 155.
And Undermount-3blade-5'-Yanmar Mower, which fit the YM195 and 240.
Man, talk about "clunkers"!

No, I'm not a dealer, and didn't get into Yanmars until about 3 years ago. Were those U34YM's built by Continental Belton? I had heard from a local Yanmar dealer that these were OEM on some the Yanmars made for U.S.

What made them "clunkers"?

The Continental-Belton mowers were marketed by Yanmar as the YQM (Yanmar Quick Mount) series.
The Ranger was actually built by Allied Mowers, Division of Central Quality Industries Inc. in Dixon, IL.
I always referred to it as a clunker, but it really wasn't too bad of a mower if you switched to hi-suction blades, because it was a flat deck mower. At least it had grease fittings, so they could run forever. One of my customers still has one that he uses regularly, that he purchased in June of 1977!

While we are on the subject of Yanmar belly mowers, are there hi-suction blades for the YMM-45? My YMM-45 leaves strips of longer grass where the front wheels pushed it down. I know I can help the situation by putting weight on the 3pt, but I just haven't gotten around to that counterweight yet.

I really would like hi-suction or hi-lift blades for the YMM-45.

What I really didn't like about the Ranger Mower was being driven from the rear PTO when the tractor doesn't have a live PTO.
I have two suppliers for YMM-45 blades but neither one is really a hi-suction. Have you tried welding a piece onto your blades to create more lift. If you try it, be careful to keep the blades in balance.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have considered welding a piece onto the original blades, but really don't know how to do that to create more suction. Has anyone done this before that could provide some instruction?
