I just picked up a Befco Brand flail mower, it is 72". Can anyone tell me on the quality ladder where Befco products rank? High, Low, or middle of the road? Any information appreciated.
thanks
Jon

Befco stands for: "Best Equipment Farmers Can Own" although I think this is a bit of a stretch. The only Befco implement I had was a post hole digger and it wasn't anywhere near the quality of a Danuser. I don't know about their other stuff. My guess is medium quality at best.

I've had a Befco 60" rear discharge finishing mower for about 7 years and never had a lick of trouble even though it has been beat up some. Keep it greased and it runs, can't ask for anything more. As far as cpmparative quality goes, I'd be a little more generous and put it in the medium/high category.

One of our ex-members on this board, Bob Skurka, had quite a few Befco implements as I remember and anyone who knew him, will know that he researched things to death before making a decision and plunking his money down. That would mean that he was satisfied about the quality and performance of the Befco brand.

I have an older Befco 60" inch Flail Mower. I think it is actually made in Italy and just imported and re-branded but many Flail Mowers and Rototillers are italian made so that is not a bad thing.

I bought mine used on CraigsList and called Befco asking about parts. I couldn't find a serial number on it anywhere so they sent me all the possible parts manuals in the mail - free of charge. I was able to order parts and new blades through a local John Deere dealer.

So far, I have nothing but good things to say about Befco.
