Been Puttering On Husky Wood Splitter

This spring I bought a Husky 22 Ton Splitter. I plan on pulling it with my wheeler. It had a broken hitch and a mangled kick stand. I put on a hitch and was going to make a new stand but when I was in TSC the other day I saw a 1 ton weld-on trailer jack for $25 and bought it. It even rotates up out of the way. The splitter is older and doesnt have the table mounts the new ones have so I welded on a couple ears so I can mount a removable table. I always wondered how much tonnage or pressure on a 4" cylinder it actually takes to split the wood I use. So just for an experiment I put a pressure guage in the line. If the gauge is right I actully can get 20 tons @ 3200 psi. The few pieces I have split with the gauge in took hardly any pressure at all. I think it will be interesting to see how much it takes. I have one of those and have split alot of wood. The only thing I have ever had go wrong is the coupler from the engine to the pump has went out twice.
