Will sevin dust kill them, (such as in carpets)?

It just happens that on the mid-day news here yesterday, they had a report about a couple who had a terrible infestation in their house (somewhere in NY state). The wife was "fit to be tied" because exterminators could not eliminate all the bugs. They hired a firm that brought in heaters that raised the inside of the house to 130 degrees with special vents for making sure furniture and beds got up to temperature. It took several hours, but it seems they eradicated 100% of the bedbugs by this method with no danger of insecticides/pesticides. It was expensive ($4000-$6000) for this treatment, but the company said they are booked solid with jobs. If you can't beat 'em, cook 'em.

What I have been reading was that heat and cold is a good way to kill the bed bugs. After a trip people are leaving their luggage either out in the sun or in the trunk of the car for a few days. The trunk will either get very hot or very cold and kill the bed bugs.

Never tried it but it sure sounds like it would work. And it is cheap. :D

Later,
Dan
