Battery tray repair

I've had the battery acid take all of the paint off of the tray and start to rust. I would like to paint this before I put the Optima in. Could or should I use like a truck bed paint (herculiner), or should I use a regular spray paint?

Regular paint will work fine if that battery is of the sealed type. You could put down a sheet of rubber under it.

Clean that old try off goodbrush or wheel off loose paint, and clean with battery acid neutralizer in a can.. or make your own out of baking soday.. let it dry good.. them prime and paint it. I guess a rubberizing or epoxy paint would give you a greater amount of protection.
