LX 178 After starting the tractor the battery light stays on. have new battery in it , have check all wiring connections. What gives? need help.

could be that the engine is not recharging the battery or I think some of those JD mowers have a relay that is suppose to turn off the battery light when the battery is charging and it may not be working. check your battery voltage with a multimeter while it is running at full throttle and see if it is around 13.5 and not below 12.5
