Group 26 is a SMALL battery. It's the smallest car battery made. I suspect you have room for something bigger (more CCA and reserve capacity). Measure the current battery and look at the chart. The AGM battery in my DK45S appears to be about group 27 size. There is no correlation between the number and the actual battery size.

Just put a new battery in my 2005 DK45S today. Group 24, got this one from Napa. never had good luck with Interstate, even though most batteries are made my interstate. I am on my fifth battery as of today. Have problem with the cells shorting out.
the original battery(Interstate) last 6 months and was replaced under warranty, which had to be replaced 18 months later. Had another battery which I don't remember what it was, but lasted up to 3 years and 6 months ago, ( was mowing the yard, and shut the tractor off to talk to somebody, and went to restart and had nothing) which at that time installed a Walmart battery, which has failed in the last week.

Alternator is putting out 14.5 volts at the battery. Checked it when I started the tractor after battery replacement. the plates in the battery are breaking causing internal shorts. the first battery that was in the tractor when new, you could take a volt meter and place one lead on the negative battery terminal and touch the other lead to the plastic case, and get 12V.
The battery that was just replaced would show fully charged if put on a charger, but didn't have enough amps left to turn over the engine. Checked battery this morning before replacement. Specific gravity showed battery was low on power, volt meter showed 11.5v, and a 50 amp load tester would drop it to 9. It would only take a 2 amp battery charger hooked to the battery to give it enough to start the engine like a new battery. All you had to do was connect charger, turn on, and start tractor, no charging required.

I have an Interstate MTP-65 in my DK45SE. That appears to be the largest battery that will fit in the tray.

I have to say that you have the worst luck with batteries that I have ever heard of. I would be looking for something other than getting the occasional bad battery in your case. Perhaps you have excessive vibration and some high density foam rubber under the battery may help you
