Just bought a basic sawmill kit off ebay and expect to spend 40 hours building the complete mill. Thought about documenting the process with pictures and putting it on my website. Question is: would anyone care about seeing something like this, or has it all been done too many times before?

I don't know about the rest of the guys here but I would. I built one a couple of years ago and use it all the time. There is also a couple of really good web sits that are all about building our own mill.

I'd be very interested in seeing how it goes. I have an old sawmill building but the saws were removed years ago and I've been thinking of setting up new ones and milling my own lumber to fix up the other buildings.

I have been reading up on band mills and would very much like to follow your build.

I have made a basic chainsaw mill that has worked OK, but not very productive, fun however.

I build custom Mills. You can see my prototype in operation here: YouTube - marklug's Channel

I'd be glad to answer any questions you have. There are a million ways to build one, so interest really never seems to wain.

O.K. Looks like some guys would be interested, so I'll do it. The kit ships out in a couple days so I should have it by Aug. 20. When it gets here I'll start snapping pictures of the process and include a labor time and parts cost list.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE ! Better yet why not have a saw area {chainsaws, mills, logging, anything to do with cutting milling splitting of wood} on the forum ????? Can I get a 2nd

Ooops allmost forgot, I'd be interested, I've milled countless board feet of lumber, built my house garage and many other projects. OH, and of course with a mill one needs some sort of tractor ??????

Hey you should look into norwoods town hall, for it's full of sawmilling other ideas that also include from spoting a tree to falling, skidding, loading on to mill, sawing and how to saw a log, then off to building site.alot of ideasthere also.I know cause my little one man sawmill is a lm2000 with norwoods:drool:,and I love the mill,For any board I dream about I go out and fall the tree skid it out wth what I need at time then make my board eg:1" x 18" x 16'.Not having to worry big $$$$$$$$$$$.I cut 28inch diameter log x 16 feet and make what lumber I need.No need to plane for they are smooth. But If I want plane lumber 13" inches wide sure is  nice:D

We are ready for the pictures and stories. I have the popcorn ready. The forestryforum.com (sawmill forum) would, also, be very eager to hear and see your story.
