I've just visited a farmer who has built a selection of ballast weights, saying "The weight in the front (or rear 3-pt) depends on what you have on the other end". It interests me because I damaged a tractor quite badly by making a concrete weight which was far heavier than was needed. The 60hp tractor had a front loader and silage grab which when loaded was well over a ton. Working on the premise "the heavier the better" I made a weight which was about 4 x 3 x 3 = 36 cu ft. which works out a 2,300 kg. After 6 months use the gear section started to be difficult - the bell housing had cracked. We welded it up and I took a grinder to the weight and took more than half the concrete away.
Motto: make and use the lightest weight that works. Have a selection, or one with removable ballast. If you have 4WD think of the loading on the axle from a heavy lump. Pic shows useful front/rear weight with arms for extra if needed

EXACTLY Locoweed. Your OM will tell the max weight on the 3-point.

I'm somewhat surprised that a 60hp tractor would lift that much weight on the 3-point. 36 cu ft of concrete = 5400 pounds.

This information comes with my DL95 FEL on my GC1715..... Your loader manual probably reads a bit different...

Yeah I know.... Reads like person who wrote manual knows nothing about tractors/loaders....
