JD 3720
I'm trading a 2305 w/ FEL, 54"MMM, and a LX4 brush hog in for a 3720 w/ FEL, and a AF11 front blade, and a used lawnmower. I was originally told it would be ready in a week, then didn't hear from them and had to call back. Then I was told 2 weeks and the same thing happened till I called him back this morning. He said he'd try for next week????? I told him that was unsat and he told me I could cancel the deal if I wanted?? Are tractors selling so good they can turn customers away??

Also, can someone clarify the deal JD has on attachments for getting 1,000 back if you buy more than one? When I asked about this, he told me that was only for small compact tractors, and I could only get $300 off for buying 2 attachments. Does that sound right??

I don't think you had a bad experience...just coming to the realization that tractors take a while to get delivered.
It's a fact of life...

I realize that it takes time and telling me a few days shorter is a sales tactic, but not calling me for an entire week is what is bothering me. If I'd been told it would take two weeks from day one, then thats fine, but the tractor was on the lot and he said I'd have it in less than a week and today I was told it 'might' be ready in another week. When I explained it to him, he apologized and all seems well, but I still want to confirm that 1,000 off deal for two or more attachments.

I'm fairly certain that the $1,000 of is only for the 2320 and 2520, not the 2720.

I guess I can share some frustration with the set up and delivery process for my own tractor. I can understand when they have to wait on parts delivery, and I can understand how busy the shop can get. But I suffered with parts that were never ordered and a disorganized shop where nobody checked to see if all the parts had come in for a job before the technician started the work and discovered it on his own. Excuses and delays finally caused my to show up in person and explain why that day was the day my tractor would be delivered, and so it was. I think they understood clearly why my frustration was justified after five weeks of waiting.

When I went to my local JD dealer when I was in the market for a new tractor the way they treated me completely turn me off from them. They acted as if they where doing me a favor even talking to me. Now I know a $35000 tractor to them is not a big deal but for me it was. Needless to say I did not end up with a deere and had every intention of buying one.

Thanks guys. I didn't see that information, and only saw the commercials. I feel a lot better about the deal and can't wait to get the tractor!!

I could not get my local dealer to get serious with me till I got a price from another dealer..Then he stepped up to the plate..

my local JD dealer wouldnt even deal with me at all, it was like "take the list price..or take nothing". didnt give a break off of JD's Build it price list, nor did he give any break for a cash sale. Took 3 days of me bugging him to find the overall height of the tractor and call me back.

I ended up going to a Kioti dealership that was more than willing to talk me thru the options, test drive various units, and then sit AND DEAL. Plus got a nice cash discount.

My JD dealer treats me well even though I am a small customer for him and his 8 mechanics keep the work orders moving quickly. I would not take it too personal, but I would have a one on one conversation with he owner or manager before you make the final transaction. If they cannot take care of you before the sell, doing it afterward will be unlikely. Just my opinion on any dealer and brand.

This is big farm country here where I am at..One of our local John Deere dealers sells more Combines than any other dealer in the US.. and my best friend bought the 500,000th John Deere combine. He got trips to Moline and just went back last week to speak to a group. He is JD through and through. He is on their website some place doing a interview. Plus my father was a John Deere dealer when I was a kid. I always lusted for a 140 with triple hydrolics.

One of our local Kubota dealers is a total tool..and the other is a decent enough guy.All the BObcat, Kioti, Yanmar Cub dealers are a good distance away and wanted more money to trade..

ya, i agree it all depends on the salesman......hes the make it or break it for their sales.

the thing that pissed me off, this dealership knows me... by name.

i bought my last unit from them, and all my parts. but they treated me like i didn't exist when i was looking for a cab unit.

i guess they thought i wasn't serious.

Problem they always make is assuming you have no money or credit..

I have learned you just never know what a man has by what he wears..

The aforementioned experiences are why I didn't consider a JD for more than an afternoon. No tractors on the lot and salesmen who seemed annoyed at my questions and were more concerned about the Kubota quote than giving me any sort of price. One dealers answer was simply "no" when I asked about a 2320 TLB. I hung up.

My local John Deere has treated my like I was the biggest customer they had. Just today I stopped in to see if my ballast box had arrived and was going to pickup a gallon of pre-mix antifreeze to top off the tractor (was less than a pint or so low). He said the box was going to be late cause he ordered a box extension by mistake and he said a new tractor should not have been low and gave me the anti-freeze, then told me I could have the ballast box extension and apologized for the error. The box would be here on monday. At this point I would feel guilty if I shopped anywhere else. :)

The guys at my local JD are a great bunch!

However, the dealership owner's are very disinclined to "deal" in a realistic manner given the Internet and the competition of a wide open marketplace!

They'll only go so far - 7.5% below the MSRP - and no further... So, my last 3 purchases were with dealer's that were THOUSANDS of miles away!

I feel badly 'cause the local guys are always looking for ways to save me a few bucks on parts, oil, etc. But, I've shown them - "dollar for dollar" - the difference between settling for the price in their shop versus buying elsewhere.

They'd do the same thing if it were a new car or truck or their own tractor!

Sometimes you just "gotta do, what ya gotta do"....

I must say I also have had bad experiences at the JD dealer. I always felt since I wasn't buying a 70k tractor I wasn't worth there time. I have had to deal with this even when buying parts for my lx176. I got tired of it and went down the road and bought my Kubota bx24 to replace the JD. Up until that point I had owned 2 JD's and never thought about owning anything other than green. But you know, I sure like that orange. Shines nice in the sun light! I do suspect if the JD dealer wouldn't have been so put off by my questions I would still bleed green. Oh well the Kubota dealer is only 2 miles further away. Oh yeah, I'll be selling that 176 this year.....

I'd cancel the deal (then buy a Kubota).

Just so it doesn't seem like this turns into a Deere bashing thread, I would like to say that my local small town JD dealer is a super nice guy and more than willing to deal. The only problems I had was nothing on the lot, the 8% SC sales tax, and the comparable Deere was still higher than the Kubota.

None of which are his fault. If and when I get ready to trade, I will stop and see him again. And I'll probably buy my service stuff from him since he sells the orange tractors as well.

If you're in the area and shopping, Pageland Hardware is good people:)
