Being a country boy, I'm often looking for a logical and better way of doing things.

So at the Drive-Thru it's customary for the driver to order burgers, fries, drinks or whatever and get it just right for that better half in the passenger seat and the kids or passengers in the back and then pay for it. This is while attempting to hear what that poor girl drawing less than minimum wage is babbling over a PA system that's inferior in every way.

So today I mentioned backing through to my wife, and daughter that happened to be with us today, and the idea was totally rejected to the point I would have been the lone person in the car.

So was this such a bad idea. At age 70 I'm a really good backer.

Okay, you place your order and back up to the window. Someone on the street sees you and thinks that's the way to go through the drive-thru and pulls in behind you. Now you have a mess on your hands.:confused3: Besides, if it were at night you might get tired of looking at the next car's headlights.

 Yeah maybe a better idea in theory than function, your just gonna cause all kinds of confusion.

People give me looks for backing up to the available pumps :confused2:

If the fast food restaurant was located in a small town, population under 20, and on a weekday,I would say you might be able to succeed. But in a large metropolitan area, my money's on the chance that other patron's would surely be PO and might even jam you up from both sides and harass you. Then I would propose that you lock the doors and reach under the seat. Just joking. I, myself, wouldn't attempt it no matter where the drive-in was located. I hope you got something to eat that day.

My dad would always go through with a trailer on. Not a very big one, just a dump runner. He thought it was pretty funny. So did I

That's why I like going to Rally's drive through. There is one on each side of the buildings... one on the driver's side and one on the passenger side.

Years ago I stopped by to visit my friend late on weekend night. We decided to go to BurgerKing but his car and my car got blocked in the driveway. His roomate allowed him to take the roomates Monte Carlo. At BK my friend starts to do donuts in the parking lot (no other cars around) then he takes me through the drive through backwards after we placed our order.

The assistant to the assistant manager is yelling at me. I respond "do you see a steering wheel". He shut up and gave us our order.

Were we guilty, yes. Do we still laugh about 30 years later.. YES

Now that's a right smart idea, kinda like some of the drive through beer barns I have seen.

* All vehicles should have the gas cap in the center of the rear end. No more of some caps on the left and others on the right.

So about two years ago, my wife had some stuff going on at the house; girls night. So my son and I go to the movies. We drove past the local In-n-Out; there was a huge line at the drive thru...

Some guy with a 3/4 or 1 ton 4x4, with an 11' camper, tried to go thru the drive thru, and got stuck under the awning/roof.... I used to have the same setup; would have never done that...

Stopped by after the movie and got burgers. Kid at the counter said the guy was stuck, but did not know how he got out.

My first thought was to drop the air in the tires... There was a gas station 1000' away with air... No idea what they did. But it sure looked comical.

I use to do that when I was a teenager just to freak the drive through employees out. You should do it I guarantee it will be good for laughs and the kids will never forget it.

You want to see the looks you get when you walk through... :)

Tried that at the bank, no wheels - no service

I have one odd ball on the passenger side, every time I pull up to the pump on the wrong side, I have to s t r e t c h that hose over to the other side so as not to look like a dumb butt, having to move the car :ashamed:

I think that is a great idea! My wife is so picky when we go to a drive up I want to hide. By time things are ordered we sometimes do not talk for an hour or so!:D

why invent solutions to problems that dont exist.

get your lazy arse out of the truck and go in and order. No problems hearing the person behind the register, and everyone can give there order personaly.

AND you get a chance to wash your hands before you eat the food with your hands!

Sheesh, that is about like having those 70's to 80's Chevy pickups with saddle tanks; filler on either side. Drove a '76 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 for a while(Dad's actually). Was that ever a pain!

Best was when you caught a break, and two opposing pumps on the same isle were open... Park in the middle of the aisle, and have hoses going from a right side pump to the right side tank, left side pump to left side tank.

Otherwise, often there was no way to reach the opposite side with the nozzle; had to trun around and start over; lots of fun at a busy station...

Who ever came up with that idea anyways...? Tanks on opposite sides. And, outside the frame where they were a collision hazard.

I have one odd ball on the passenger side, every time I pull up to the pump on the wrong side, I have to s t r e t c h that hose over to the other side so as not to look like a dumb butt, having to move the car :ashamed:
