Backing Through the Drive-Thru

I was working night shift locally and hadn't eaten before most of the decent food establishments closed, and the only thing around was a taco bell, drive thru. Since you can't put a rig in most drive thru's, I parked right across from the drive in window and walked up. They would not serve me, saying it was drive thru only. Sooooo... I backed into the lane from the street with the truck (which had curbs to prevent people from cutting in line) and tried to order. At that point they wanted me to place my order at the order station rather than at the pickup window. I told them that wasn't possible, so they said it was "company policy", and I told them what my "personal policy" was, which was to never grace those doors again. (And haven't!!!). Good help is hard to get!

As far as putting the gas filler lids back on the rear of vehicles in the center, there was a good reason they moved them to the side, and I doubt convience is going to convience them to move them back to the high impact area of the rear bumper, which subjects a vehicle owner to an explosion risk everytime somebody hits them in the rear, especially nowadays with cell phones and texting increasing the risks of being hit in the rear when you touch your brakes.

Yep... back in the '70's that was called "Getting (Ford) Pinto'ed! Anyone too young to remember that can Google "Pinto explosions".

At one time I had an '82 Chevy 6.2 diesel 2wd SWB stepside that had the saddle tanks. I could juuuust get the hose across the bed to fill the other tank.

I agree. Certain Company policies are ludicrous. Just try walking up to a drive thru at a bank. I tried it once in Florida at a bank branch that didn't have an ATM outside.I was in a boom truck that had 6 bundles of 5/8 inch drywall on it. They wouldn't help me. ???And it was the same bank that my wife and I had an account at for years, but a different branch.

I have walked up to my bank several times with no problems, maybe they see me park my truck and trailer, don't know, or maybe because it's a small town. Last time the girl actually laughed, said she had a guy come in on horseback several times.

The County that I live in now has around 23,000 people. The bank in Florida was in a County that had a population of 340,000 and is part of the St. Pete-Ckearwater-Tampa metropolitan area. Whether it's doing business with the Credit Union, hardware store, drugstore or tire store here in Caswell County NC, it's like they said on "Cheers" -the TV show, everyone knows your name. There's even a man here that drives his 8N into town every once in awhile, and plays checkers with other men in the Courtyard Square where a Civil War Memorial Statue is. I suppose that explains the difference. I love living here. It reminds me of East Tenn where I was raised.

Back a few years before I dated Amy I was working all over. I was dating a girl that lived in a small town where I was working. I drove an 85 Chevy 4door 1 ton service truck. I had a severe ear infection one time and I couldnt hear the lady at the drive in. Wed order our meal and go back to my worksite for dinner. It was customary for her to get in the seat behind mine and make the orders.

Sonic is the worst place to get an order they have their music playing so loud outside that you cant hear the teenager in the building trying to talk with stud in their tongue. Several time s this summer we orderd out and had to physically send the order in on a note. One evening I was particularly miffed at the world and having a hard time trying the lace the order over the stores radio. I finally told the twit in the store to turn the crap down so we could he3ar our order. Its cheaper to walk in the Mexican restaurant and get a good meal and its right.

Just put them in the back seat and all you have to do is stop with their window at the speaker
