Backhoe storage question

So I finally took the BH off for the first time, should the BH end hoses be connected together while stored?

I connect mine to keep dirt and dirt daubers out. When I reconnect, sometimes I have to relieve the pressure with a hammer tap so they will connect up to the tractor

I don't connect them but do put the rubber protective caps on.
