Well fellas I had a bad backhoe cylinder and I went to replace the seals and instead of just the seals the shaft itself was bad. the cylinder I am talking about is the cylinders that shift the boom left and right. The shaft broke were they drilled it so you could place a cotter pin to hold the nut that holds the plate inside the cylinder. I was wondering if you can just buy the shaft or do you think that I will have to buy a whole new cylinder?

Bring it to a hydraulic cylinder shop. They can make a new rod. It's no big deal to do. Almost always cheaper to have a new rod made than getting one from the dealer.

Or you might get lucky and someone on TBN may have one laying around their shop.
