The hoses on my back hoe are rubbing where they go in and out of the arms etc. I was thinking of cutting pieces of pvc pipe the length of the metal edges, then cut a vertical slit and epoxy it over the edges so it is a smooth slick surface foe them to rub on. The nylon sock has worn away in several areas.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

Thanks

Mark

When this has happen to me, I have taken a piece of automotive heater hose, slit it lengthwise and used tie-wraps to hold it on the hose being protected.

This transfers the wear to the heater hose, which can be replaced as needed.

Using PVC pipe the way you describe will keep the wear on the hydraulic hose, although it may reduce the rate.

Heater hose is available in many diameters.

I was looking at a new Case dozer working across the road with a 6 way blade and the hoses had some kind of steel coiled protection around the hoses at risk. The split heater hose sounds the way to go to me too.

Do you guys mind posting some picture of the backhoe hoses? Some of hoses on my new backhoe are starting to leak, very minor at this time. I wondering if the way some of the hose are tie-wrap down is causing stress at the fittings. My backhoe is a kioti KB2485.
